Greetings! I hope all of you are doing well!
I have a 9 year old Dell G3 gaming laptop that, surprisingly for a dinosaur, still operates rather well.
Specs are Intel Core i7-8750H CPU @ 2.20GHz, 32GB RAM, and of course the NVIDIA 1050 Ti GPU.
The issue that I haven't seemed to be able to solve yet is that when I record or stream, no matter what camera I use, periodically the camera capture glitches usually at the bottom of the frame. It's only for a quick second and then it's gone. This only happens intermittently. Since I always record videos in separate takes, it's not a huge issue since I can just do another take on a particular scene.
But, being an IT guy, I'm hopeful that there is a fix or workaround for this. And keep in mind, like a mad scientist, I have everything from a digital 16 channel mixer for audio, a Go Pro Hero 13 for a webcam, to a 4TB SSD for storage.
Let's just say I'm pushing this laptop to beyond its limits.
And it's quite amazing that I can run two taxing apps simultaneously without any issues. I was running into the GPU overheating but I remedied that by getting a separate 5" fan laptop stand, which is definitely cooling it down now.
But, I'm hoping somebody out there has some ideas to help improve my system. I was running two different cameras for different shots in OBS, but today I am only using the Go Pro. I'm just trying to simplify things as much as possible.
